About
I started my working life as a Trainee Quantity Surveyor but moved in Construction Management; working for 9 years with a local construction company, as a Site Agent, on a variety of Housing, Commercial, Demolition and Heavy Engineering Projects across the Highlands and Islands, gaining a NC in Building and a HNC in Construction Management along the way.
I then moved on to take up a position as Wayleaves Officer and Site Engineer with Balfour Beatty, responsible for landowner liaison and the management of access track construction, across a number of high profile and difficult Overhead Line Projects across the Highlands of Scotland and carried out this role for almost 7 years.
An opportunity to go self-employed as a Land Manager arose and with a young family at home, that I hadn’t any quality time with for a number of years - it was an opportunity that I could not turn down. I’ve now been applying the experience gained over my 16 years in construction and utilities, to Land Management Projects across all corners of the country.
I’ve carried out works in this field for almost 5 years now and enjoy every minute of it.
My construction background meant I was always around house projects, which is where the Estate Agency Works comes into things. I like people and I like property, so the Estate Agent role also fits into two things I really enjoy.
Photography and more recently videography - are my main hobbies, which I regret that I had little time for over the last 10 or so years due to work and family commitments.
I’ve been fortunate enough to be able to apply photography, videography and a combination of the 2 with aerial (drone) works as part of my daily roles in both Land Management and Estate Agency works..
FUN FACT: Along with my wife, I also own and run a Scottish Wedding Planning website called My Scotland Wedding
